  •  QTL Experiment in Brief
Animals:Six F0 Landrace boars, 11 F0 Hampshire sows and the entire F2 generation (320 animals) were genotyped. In addition, 60-79 unrelated animals from four breeds (Landrace, Yorkshire, Hampshire, and Duroc) were also genotyped for association study.
     Breeds associated:
    n/a
Design:In this study, we present an investigation of MC4R as a candidate gene for the fat/meat QTL. We also evaluate the Asp298Asn polymorphism as an underlying target in the selection for daily gain in Danish pig populations.
Analysis:Based on the SNP genotypes, MC4R was included in the existing sex-averaged SSC1 linkage map and with the MC4R genotype included in the QTL analysis model as a fixed effect.
    Software:CRI-MAP version 2.4; QTL Express.
