Subject: Short course UGA - Programming and genomic selection

We are happy to announce the Ignacy Misztal's short course on programming
and computer algorithms in animal breeding with a focus on single-step
GBLUP and genomic selection.
The course will last 3 weeks (May 4 - 22, 2026) and will be taught in 2
modules:
Module A: week 1 plus Monday through Wednesday of week 2
- Week 1 (5/4 - 5/8): Introduction to programming in Fortran
- Week 2 (5/11 - 5/13): Advanced programming in Fortran and computer
algorithms in animal breeding
Module B: Thursday and Friday of week 2 plus week 3
- Week 2 (5/14 - 5/15):Introduction to BLUPF90 family programs
- Week 3 (5/18 - 5/22): Genomic Selection

Ignacy Misztal, Daniela Lourenco, Matias Bermann, and Jorge Hidalgo (UGA)
Andres Legarra (CDCB), Zulma Vitezica (France), and Ignacio Aguilar (Uruguay)

Paul VanRaden
The application deadline is February 28.
All applications will be evaluated soon after the deadline, and the selected
participants will be notified in the first week of March.

Please note that the course has prerequisites. In particular, Module A
requires knowledge of programming in any programming language. See the
